About The Scheme
How the scheme works
Participation in the scheme is voluntary. Each day care provider who meets the requirements
as listed under the section 'Who can apply for approval' is able to register for
the scheme by completing a Nursery Milk application form. You can get an application
form by contacting NMRU directly by either telephoning or emailing - see below for
details.

Reimbursement will not be made for any milk provided before the date of approval
Definitions
Here are some important terms used across the Nursery Milk scheme:
Nursery Milk Reimbursement Unit (NMRU). The unit contracted by the UK Health departments
to act on their behalf in registering Nursery Milk suppliers and making payments
to them.
The milk to be supplied
Milk means heat-treated (e.g. pasteurised) liquid cows’ milk. It includes whole and
semi-skimmed milk. It does not include milk with flavours, colours, added vitamins
or any other additions. It does not include fully skimmed milk, goats’ milk, soya
milk or unpasteurised milk. “Infant Formula for babies under 12 months means one
of the following brands: It does not include follow-on milk, ready-to-feed milk
or any other brand.
